Week 27

February 26th- March 2nd

Dear Parents,

Our 20 focus phonograms for this week are:

The spelling words for this week are from List 8 and are as follows:  come, hand, ring, live (short vowel), live (long vowel), hill, late, let, mother, three.  The review words are:  are, over, street, say, out. I cannot stress enough how very important it is to study phonograms and spelling words orally and written each night.  Please practice!  Your child should be able to read the spelling words WITHOUT having to sound them out by this point.  Also, February poems recitations will be assessed this week!

In math, we are reviewing time to the hour, subtracting one and zero from a number, and graphing.  We will be introducing the quarter, adding doubles to 9, and measuring something by weighing.

In extended day, we will continue our unit on the desert.  If anyone has anything of the desert that they would like to share, feel free to send it in (small cactus, small desert pet, items found in the desert, pictures of your family doing fun things in the desert).

Saturday, March 3rd, is the Spring Festival, on our campus.  If you have never experienced this event, it is REALLY fun! 

Important Dates: 

March 2nd  - Spirit Day, so wear your Spirit Day shirt and think ice cream!

March 3rd  – Spring Festival

March 9th - Early release at 12:15.  Please let me know if your ½ day child will be staying for lunch!

March 12th – 16th – No School for Spring Break! 

March 25th - Third quarter report cards will go home.
